2. The Book of Endangered Plants
This oversized coffee table book celebrates endangered flora from all over the world. As you turn the pages you are greeted with snapshots into the biological intricacies within each plant. This is graphically achieved by layering both color and grayscale images in order to highlight specific areas within the plant’s structure; treating the plants as if they are being put under a microscope and analyzed by a botanist, which in this case is the viewer. The illustrations are accompanied by a fact sheet treated in a similar graphic style and a map detailing the native region. What makes this book unique is that each plant illustration can be torn out from the pages and hung on a wall as a poster.
